Clowning Around

Happy Thursday everyone! Here's a fun shot me clowning around with Papa last night. This is what we do. We clown.

PS - Shout out to my pals Brady and Beau's papa, Pat! I think his birthday is today. Daddy thinks it might be tomorrow, and if so that would make him nine.

Make No Quick Judgements

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions, because it just doesn't make sense right now. And I know there will be a few of you nay sayers out there that think "He's crazy" or "It's just a coincidence." But, for the sake of argument, keep an open mind and just listen to what I did yesterday -

So after dinner, I felt a little something, something, and I TOLD my mama that I had to go POTTY. Yeah, I kept saying potty, potty. Then I walked into the bathroom, and demanded that my shirt be taken off, then my pants, then my diaper. Daddy kept whispering, "What's going on? Does he really know?" And Mama kept saying, "Just go with it. Let's see what happens." So, when Mama took my diaper off, she realized that I had already completed the Number 2, if you will. So they took me up to change my diaper, but I kept saying potty, potty. So Mommy put me down and I went right back in the bathroom and demanded my diaper be taken off again. Mom obliged. I tried climbing up on top of the stool, but its a bit too high for me. So Mom picked me up and tried to get me to sit on it. Well, that kind of wigged me out, so she put me down, put my diaper back on, put my jammies on, and that was the end of the experiment.

Now who's to say what that was. I don't even know what that was. I see my pals at school doing this all the time, but I guess I still don't really understand exactly what's supposed to happen. Let's just take the wait and see approach to this.

Blind leading the blind,

My Own Personal Heaven

CHECK IT O.U.T. My great, great (yeah, that's two greats) Auntie Kay gave me this A.W.E.S.O.M.E. tent. It even came with a sleeping bag, flash light, water bottle, and tags. I know. I crawled in , then I crawled out. Then I made Daddy get in. I said, " 'Mon, Daddy, 'mon!" Then we just hung out in it. And some day when we take it outside, I will be able to look out the top and see the stars. Its just so cool, I love it!!

I got it for Christmas, and Daddy finally set it up for me yesterday. Maybe because was I sick. But really how sick do I look? Gimme a break. I'm back at school today, and I'm staying! Its just so boring spending every day, day in and day out, with Mama. I mean she's great, but my friends at school are so much cooler.

Lend a helping hand to those less fortunate,
HAJ

PS - Happy Happy Birthday to my girlfriend! Yes, I have one, stoooop teasing. Her name is Laurie, and she's pretty.

I Thought This Was Over

The Hershey squirts have taken over my body once again. Just when I thought I was in the clear. I was doing so well, that Mom and Dad let me go to school today. But for the first time ever, Lini called and needed them to come pick me up. I squirted through my outfit, and for a reason to remain nameless, I didn't have a back up outfit in my school bag. So, I'd like to send a big thank you to whoever let me borrow the clothes you see. I think its you Patrick, but I'm not sure. Jeez. I really hope I'm better tomorrow. I was having so much fun at school too. I don't feel bad, I just keep having bad diapers. Dang.

Hairy as an ape,
HAJ

PS - Apparently this blog thing is catching on like wildfire. Another one of Mom's pals started blogging. See the link to the right about Fabulous Over Forty. She talks fashion and make-up, nothing really for macho guys.

They're Trying Their Best

I'm not sure how you all have been spending your Sunday, but guess what I've been doing? Well, it all started at around 5am, when Mom heard me "coughing." She thought it was weird that I was coughing, since I didn't have a cough, but I was sick the day before with the 'rrhea. She didn't want to check on me just in case I was awake, then I'd never fall back asleep. Then she heard me cough again around 7:30, but thought the same thing. Instead of checking on me she went downstairs to make coffee and fiddled around. She finally came upstairs and dropped the coffee off in her room, and then went to get me up. There I was, sitting in the corner of my crib, with my back to the door. Throwing up all over myself. Sitting there, looking at her so sadly, still heaving.

Don't be too hard on Mama. She was only trying to stick with the schedule, and she felt so bad she's been trying to make it up to me all day. Daddy took me in the shower to clean me up and Mom started her first load of laundry for the day and called GmaE for help. See, this is the first time I've ever thrown up and no one here knew what to do about it. I just wanted to be tough, and try not to bother anyone with my discomfort. I hate to be such a burdon, just for little ol' me.

So Mom and I cuddled in bed. Yes cuddled. That's how sick I was. I even fell asleep briefly in her arms. Then I woke up and got down from bed, and went out in the hall and threw up again. But nothing came this time. I was empty. So went back to bed with Mom and snuggled and slept some more. Then I woke up and sat up and threw up again, but still empty. Mom kept trying to get me to drink Pedialite, but I hate it. I did like the milk she had brought me before she knew I was sick, so I drank that, and proceeded to fall asleep on Mama again. (By the way, Mom was secretly loving the snuggling and wanted it to last forever.) GmaE warned against giving me milk, but I was borderline dehydrated and Mom thought something was better than nothing.

Make a note, all you new or someday wanna be parents out there. Do not give your little one milk when they've been throwing up. I threw that milk up, all of it, a whole sippy cup full, all over Mom and her bed and her bedding and her pillows. White, chunky, cottage-cheesy, nastiness. So we hopped back into the shower, stripped the bed, remade the bed, and Mom started her next of 4 more loads of laundry. Then I started to feel better. My energy level went up, Daddy came home with more Pedialite, (I still don't really want it), and about an hour later I was starving and I ate two pieces of jelly toast. Its STILL in my tummy! Now I'm exhausted and napping. Throwing up all over your parents, and making them fell like lousy parents, takes a lot out of me.

Month 20 Archive

Dear Hanky Panky,

Another month gone. You're twenty months. Almost two years old. Do you know that next summer, when you turn three, you could play T-ball? Do you? Its like you're really a little boy.

This month you learned where your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and hair are located. I'm not sure who taught you that, but you got it down. The other day at school you said, "Lini, I hungry." So she fed you. What? Just now you came in my office and said, "Mommy, I see you." And I said, "I see you!" And you said "Whoa," and ran away. A person could actually sit down and hold some semblance of a conversation with you these days. Its shocking.

The biggest challenge of late is getting you into your carseat. Your signature "back-arch" move, and ear drum popping screams are enough to make us stay home and never leave the house. You fight and fight, every single time we want to go somewhere. Once you're in you're good, well after driving about 5 miles or so, the screaming stops. You need to understand that you will always be in your carseat, no matter what, and I will always win this battle. I'm the mom.

Speaking of speaking, you know that a cow says "moooooooon." Which I think is adorable. You can say your friend's names at school, and you sing along with a few of the letters in the alphabet. You can say grandma. Basically the days are spent with your father and I asking you to say something, and then you do. "Henry, can you say hippopotamus? Can you say oregano? Can you say aluminum?" Even more interesting is that you know what hot means. When you even see a picture of a candle you say "hot". When you see my coffee, or when you see something in the oven you say "hot." But, I won't tell that when you take a bite of ice cream and you also say "hot." Sugar.

Hope I Don't Catch That

Palmer came over last night while his parents went out to some fancy shmancy dinner. We had my favorite, TACOS, for dinner. Trust me, even though it might not show, I love tacos. Palmer was not so into it. I wondered why, then - a clue - we got a call from Palmer's dad. Turns out Mama Palmer got sick during dinner and had to excuse herself to throw up. At least she didn't yack on the table. HA! Then on the way home from dinner, Papa Palmer had to pull over on I-94 so the mama could throw up again. Seems he wasn't quite quick enough and there was a bit of an accident on the side of the door. I know I shouldn't share this information, and probably should've changed the names to protect the innocent, but there's nothing innocent about this story.

Horn of plenty,

Lager Cake For Gpa

Grandma just sent me the photos from the birthday party we had for GpaE. I know you all wanted to see them. I'll spare you most of the details, but the chocolate cake that Mom made was all the rage. Daddy really liked it, mostly because there was Guinness in it. I even helped make the frosting. There were quite a few candles to blow out, but Gpa got them all in one big blow. He has amazing lung capacity.

More Bloggy

Just thought I'd send a shout out to my mom's new blog - www.nickisdream.blogspot.com. Bear with her, she's new at it. It might take her a little time to figure it all out. It should be a good resource for how mistakes made and lessons learned if nothing else. I wish her the best of luck because the better she does, the more Hostess Cupcakes she'll buy me.

A Fish Called Jesse

Lini is on vacation this week in Mexico, the lucky dog. So I've been hanging out with Mom and Dad to kill time. Monday we went to Underwater World at the Mall of America. That was amazing. We saw all kinds of animals including an alligator, (or maybe its a croc, I don't know the difference), piranhas, sting rays, and the best was Jesse the shark. The aqaurium is underground, so there are fish all around you. Sometimes you're under the fish, that's how you can really get a good look at the shark's mouth. I'm hoping to get season tickets so we can come more often. I really like "shishes."

PS - Sorry about the big pics, but cousin Kyle is making us take them this big, and then we forgot how he showed us to make them small again.

Mine Is Better Than Yours

Today is GpaE's birthday! And guess what!? He decided to come to my house to celebrate! We went out for seafood, like good Catholics, (even though neither of us are) last night. Tonight we're treating him to a birthday dinner of ribs and chocolate cake. I really like to hang out with GpaE. For instance, instead of me eating seafood for dinner yesterday, he gave me candy corn and Skittles. My grandpa is better than your grandpa.

Just eyeball it,

Here's the Skinny

Here's the skinny - for whatever reason Mama decided to quit a perfectly good job, to try to make it on her own. The name of her new company is Paperwork Design. Kinda sounds like she's going to make greeting cards or something doesn't it? Well, she's not. She is going to put herself out there for hire to designers who need help doing their paperwork. You may not know this, but designer are all a titch on the flighty side, and very arty, and they hate to do paperwork. But Mama on the otherhand, is a freak of nature and loves it. Remember how she likes to fill out forms, and to practice her own handwriting? She works on different ways to write an E, or maybe an L. For hours. This is what I'm talking about. She's also going to take the autoCAD skills she's learned, and offer that as one of her services. After that meltdown she had on her first day of class, everyone is in shock about this decision, but now she actually enjoys it, and believe it or not, prefers it to hand drafting.

So there ya go. She officially starts on 2/18, in the mean time she'll be laying around the house in her comfiest robe, drinking Pabst Blue Ribbons.

It's my way or the highway,
HAJ

PS - Daddy wants me to mention that we are taking donations since we're down to one income. He even just turned in my application to start work at McDonalds. Help!

A New Direction

So, remember just over six years ago when my mom got her "dream job" at a place called Gunkelman Flesher Interior Design? Remember how she had visions of driving that new Jetta with her new paychecks? Remember how this was the job that she was going to have the rest of her life, and she was sure to retire with that company? Well, thing change. People change. They have babies. They need excitement in their life. They need to move on sometimes, as much as it hurts. As much as it hurts to leave that job, today is Mom's last day at GFID.

It is hard for her to leave a job where the people she worked with have treated her like family. Even like more than family, but I don't know a word for that. They have given her every opportunity in this world, have taken her to far away cities she may not have gone, and have taught her the ways of the big city. They have been there through the good and the bad, and have gone out of their way to give her more time with me. She appreciates everything so much that these people have done, and it hurts her so bad to leave them.

Its not a good-bye, and they've agreed to keep doing some work together in the future. They've also requested that she brings me by the office often for lunches. Of course, we could never turn that down. So if anyone knows words that mean more than thank you, or words that mean more than heart felt, or love, or can explain how much she'll miss everyone at that office, please let her know, because those words just seem to be cuttin' the mustard around here.

HAJ - Tune in tomorrow to hear about what comes next for Mama.

Feeling much better today. Normal, regular, little boy style poop.

Daddy just took me to get my hair cut. High and tight. That's the way I like it.
