First Fish - Trust Me

Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the lake with my mom and dad. Mom was catching some rays and doing Sudoku, and Dad and I were doing some serious fishing. I have been working on my casting for the last few weeks, and, if I do say so myself, have gotten pretty darn good. So Daddy decided I was ready to put a hook on the end of my rod so I can do some real fishing. Exciting!!! And I'll be darned if I didn't catch a blue gill on my first cast!! My first REAL FISH I REELED IN ALL BY MYSELF!

I bet you're asking, well HAJ....where's the photo documentation? I'll tell you, there is ONE photo of that fish, but I didn't want my picture taken at the time and Daddy doesn't want the photo put on the Internet for reasons that involve that maybe he's eaten too many cheese burgers in his lifetime. So, you have to take my word on this one, and just remember I caught my first fish when I was 3!

Pleased as a pig in mud,
HAJ

A True Celebration

We had such a great time in South Dakota last weekend when we visited for my Great-grandpa J's funeral. I know that sounds funny, but it was a true celebration of his life and how much he was loved. I got to see my auntie Pam who I never get to see, and I finally met her son Chris and his wife Ang (her name is Andrea, but all the cool people call her Ang). The highlight for daddy was the 31 lb walleye he caught when he went fishing with uncle Butcher! Now he's finally in the "Big Fish Club!" He thought it was a nice little present from Grandpa.

Time is what keeps everything from happening at once,
HAJ

I Shish

I am a boy after my father's heart. I found one of his ice fishing rods in the garage today. I LOVE it. I kept saying "shish" and "I shish". Then I drew the rod back and forward like I was casting. I don't know if I really remember that from last summer, or maybe its just in my genes. Needless to say, Daddy was glowing. Sounds like he's going out to get me my own rod today!
