Out Like a Lion

Couple things...I got in the shower this morning and everything was fine. Then I get out of the shower, and its blizzarding. Well, not blizzarding, YET. Again another 8" of snow expected. This'll put hair on our chest. That which does not kill us, makes us stronger. March - get outta here like a lion.

Next...a miracle happened last week, on our way home from our quick SD tour. I fell asleep in the car for the drive home. This is a big deal guys. I used to sleep, only briefly, when I was really little and had to face backward in my car seat. Ever since I've been flipped forward, there's been no, none, absolutely zero zzzz's. Remember last summer when Mom and I went to KC? Seven hour road trip...yeah...no sleeping. I guess it takes visiting with family for two days, great hash browns, rides on a zebra, and a couple pieces of peach pie.....and there you have it.

I've seen better looking legs on a table.

Ranch Visit

On Sunday, after the super yummiest brunch ever with GGpa W, G&GE, and uncle Monte at Rollin' Pin, (I'm talking crispiest, butteriest, yummiest hash browns EVER) we headed on out to the Rogen Angus Ranch. First thing when I walk in the door...I get a present! Check out this cool zebra to ride. It even plays music and neigh's. I love, love it. My cousin Alex (pictured here with Dr. Dick) even put it together for me.

Then, and I mean this was great, skinny Auntie Shally give me PEACH PIE. And not one, but two pieces. Then I headed off to the piano for a little Mozart concerto concert (is that redundant?). It was great to see the whole family, and especially GGma N. She let something called "the mousey" keep tickling me all afternoon.

It was a great trip, and I had a blast. See, I told you I was busy. I crammed a lot in, in those two days!

Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you,

PS - Special shout out to GGma J! Happy birthday lady! We'll be out to see you soon! Love you!

Big Guy, Little Guy

Back to school today, I'm doing much better. No eye goop this morning. But I gotta tell ya, those eye drops are for the birds. I'm getting smarter about them too. I start squirming as soon as Dad comes and holds me down and Mom grabs that bottle. That bottle! I see it, sitting there on my book shelf. Its my arch nemesis these days. I have to keep taking the drops until Monday. Jeez.

I really enjoyed swimming at the water park in our hotel last weekend. Dad kept taking me down that slide over and over and over. One time I got so excited I took off running on the wet tile. I heard Mom yell "No running!" but I didn't care.....until I fell. I cracked the back of my head on that tile, oh yes I did. Daddy grabbed me and calmed me down and took me right down that slide again. Water slides cure what ails me.

Have a field day,

Special Report

I interrupt this regularly scheduled recap of my weekend in South Dakota, to bring a you a special report. I have, what the kids call, pink eye. There's no pink yet, but there's goop. Oh yeah, is there goop. Mom had to use a crow bar to pry my eyes open this morning. The guilty little germ spreader is Ian (I call him E-nah) at school. He's the cutest, sweetest little baby, and I love to kiss and hug him. I think that's how I became infected. Must remember to practice safe hugging and kissing from now on. I went to the doc this morning and got drops, and I'm well on my way to recovery.

Youthful folly,

Water Slide

What a difference a year makes. I was scared to even get in the water last year, now I own the joint.

Door Jams Are Not Like Strawberry Jam

What a weekend we had! We were only gone over night, but I feel like we did a million things. We ended up going to Sioux Falls on Saturday. We were supposed to go on Friday, but of course it was blizzarding. Blizzard, blizzard, blizzard. Seems that's all we hear about these days. Hopefully that was the last of it.

My GGma W ended up in the hospital, so we decided to go see her. She is feeling better, and hopefully she'll be home soon. We got to spend some time GGpa W, and uncle Monte too. We saw uncle Pat and auntie Teresa. It was so great to see everyone, even if it was in a hospital. I scored an Easter basket and a stuffed dog (the one I'm sleeping on in yesterday's picture) from a nurse. I don't know why people think hospitals are so bad?!

Have you noticed the giant Easter egg on my forehead in the picture above? Yeah, that's what the Easter Bunny brought me. Saturday night I was running around the hotel, and I tripped and there it was. A door frame that wouldn't get outta my way. Dang! I cried and cried, and it swelled and swelled. Its much better now, but it was touch and go there for a while.

Tune in tomorrow for more on my trip. We've only scratched the surface. No pun intended.

There's no place like home,

Monthly 21 Archives

Dear Henry,

This month has been crazy for me, and I'm not being a very good mommy or mommy blogger. I've been phone-ing it in all month, using easy video clips, and not really talking about your days. I'm sorry and I hope to be better next month. I thought starting my own business would mean less work, and more free time, but its quite the opposite. Things need to change. I see you less, we play less, and when we're together I think about when I'm going to get to my desk next. I vowed, since you're my one and only, I would never take you for granted and that I would cherish everyday. Lately I feel I've failed you. Right now, I'm going to make you a promise to make your 22nd month the best yet.

The cute new thing you are doing this month is taking your "blankie" with you when you get out of bed. You like to put it up to your face to maybe smell it, and then stick your two fingers in your mouth. Its so dang cute. As soon as you grab your blankie, your fingers go right in. You're trained very well. You talk constantly, and I can understand about 75% of what you say. We're almost having conversations.

We still are having frustrations in getting you into your car seat. You really hate it, and you say "I don't want to", but letting you have your sippy cup during this time helps. You also don't like to come in the house after being outside. I can hear you crying upstairs right now because Daddy just brought you in. The other one that is really frustrating you're papa and I, is that you WILL NOT eat out at a restaurant these days. You will not get in a high chair, you will not sit in a booster, you must have your own seat and chair. We've left every restaurant we've been to, early, without eating for the last month or so. The only thing I can think to do is keep trying. Only once a week though, these days. Thank goodness for delivery!

All in all pumpkin, you are really a sweet little booger. You're learning "please" and "sorry" and there's nothing cuter. For the most part you still have everyone outside our immediate family snowed with thinking your the sweetest baby, which you are, just not always. I'll perpetuate your myth till the day I die.

Kisses Bookie,
Mama

School Daze

Mom made me go to school again today. This is the third Thursday I've had to go to school since Mom started her new job. Don't get me wrong though, I love school. Just between me and you, I have way more fun there, than watching Mom doing laundry and going grocery shopping like we usually do on Thursdays.

Who is the boss around here anyway?

I Need a Vacation

There's a shot of 8-10" of snow for us on Friday. What? We've had the worst winter in the history of mankind, and now, NOW they say we're getting more snow. Of course they follow it up with, "the computers are say...blah. Nothing for sure yet. If we get it, it will all be gone in two or three days." Does that really matter? What about that fact that I'm supposed to go to Iowa to see GGW this weekend. Huh? What about that? I need a break. Who's with me?

Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger

Look at me, just hangin' with the guys. Eatin' cheeseburgers, beans, chips, and drinking a little ice cold beer milk. My cousin's came to see me on Sunday night, and we grilled up some burgers and sat around told a bunch of lies. Some of you may recognize Cute Cousin Kyle to the right, then there's Cute Cousin Jerid, and his Cute Friend Derek. The very elusive, Cute Cousin Casey was there too, but he showed up after the photo shoot. It was great to hang with the guys, and if I put up enough fuss, Mom doesn't make me sit in the high chair anymore either.

Green Day

Top o' the mornin' to ya! Happy St. Patrick's Day! I got my green shirt, my green socks, and Daddy put a green top on my sippy cup just for the occasion. I don't have a lick of Irish in me, but that doesn't explain my intense craving for bangers and mash.

The coast is clear,

User Error

So remember the other day when I said I have moved on to size 5 diapers, and now my life should be so much better and all that? Well, I really pulled one on Mama today, oh yes I did.

She was all excited this morning because she was going to take to me a meeting with someone she's working with, just to drop off some papers, nothing fancy. Then we were going to go visit some other people that work in that building who wanted to see me because they haven't seen me since I was a baby. Can you imagine?

Anyway, she got me all dressed up in a onesie, shirt, sweater, jeans, socks, and shoes. Right before we had to leave I decided I needed to poop, so I did. Ah, the freedom. Mom said that was good that I did it at home instead of on the road. So I was feeling pretty good about myself. Mom took me up to change me, and when she went to unsnap the onesie, her finger just landed in poop. Seems she put my diaper on "wonkie" and I pooped right out the side. Well, half my cheek was hanging out, of course I'm going to miss. A person can't aim like that.
So, she panicked slightly, when she realized that all the poop was in the onesie, and it had to be taken off me, along with the perfect shirt, sweater, and jeans she'd planned for me to wear. Not to mention get it over my head without spreading poop, and not wrecking the perfect faux hawk I was sporting. Well, it all worked out, Mom is a master at evading poop I guess, I wore all the clothes except a new onesie and new socks. The socks were really the only real casualty here. And no one was the wiser. The End.

Live dangerously,
HAJ

PS - Very special shout out to Gammy! Happy Birthday!! I know you won't get this until you get home (she's in Mexico, the lucky duck), but I didn't want you to think I forgot! Love you Gammy!

I Shish

I am a boy after my father's heart. I found one of his ice fishing rods in the garage today. I LOVE it. I kept saying "shish" and "I shish". Then I drew the rod back and forward like I was casting. I don't know if I really remember that from last summer, or maybe its just in my genes. Needless to say, Daddy was glowing. Sounds like he's going out to get me my own rod today!

Waking Up Dry

Well its official today. I am officially in size 5 diapers. I'm stoked, Mom's sad. I'm sick and tired of waking up with wet all over me. Mom just doesn't want me to grow up. I say, get used to it lady! There ain't nothin' you can do about it anyway. These look like they're the last size you get before the potty training starts. I only say this because you can still buy these in packs of 60 or something. The next size up you only get 20. So I think its a big fat hint - get going! Start peeing in the potty! Go! You can't keep buying diapers your whole life! You just can't! So here's to staying in size 5 for awhile.

Happy Birthday To My Brother

Today would be Charlie's 7th birthday. I can't believe he'd be seven. That means he'd be in first grade. He'd probably be in sports, only because Mom pushed him that way. I just know we'd be ripping this house appart together, and laughing and wrestling and causing all kinds of trouble. I bet he'd blame me for all the stuff he'd break. Isn't that what little brothers are for? I like to look at his pictures. When I see them I say, "Baby." Then Mom and Dad help me try to say Charlie. I'm getting better at it. I wear some of his clothes that he never grew into, that helps me feel like he has left me a few things. Just like real hand-me-downs. I wish I could show him my tent, and the great hill we could sled down in the backyard. I need him here to help me with my courage level. I've got a little chicken in me, and I know Charlie could help me be more brave, like he was. But I know he's watching over me, and I have my own personal guardian angel. Until we meet, big brother.

Love, Henry
