Season Opener

As you can tell, we're preparing for boating season here in MN. Last year I still wasn't walking, only sitting. And if you've ever sat while wearing a life jacket, you know what I mean by "face squish". Not fun. But this year I'm taller, longer, and lankier (Like Daddy), so wearing a life jacket is no problemo. I even request to wear my "jacket" around all the time.

Daddy and Jerrid went fishing on Saturday in WI at a tournament. They got second place! So we spent all day Sunday cleaning out the boat and getting it ready for this weekend's fishing opener in MN. I stayed in the boat and "helped" Daddy clean it for about two hours. Both he and Mom were shocked at how long I stayed. Mom said that it looks like they might actually get a tan this summer, considering how much I hated it last year. Again, face squish, you wouldn't like it either.

Bucket Hat

Check out my new hat! I even kind of like it, and I don't mind wearing it. Surprisingly. I think its because someone else I know has one like it that he wears all the time too.

Yesterday we spent the day out on the boat. It was better with my new, bigger life jacket. The Valentine's even joined us and it was Patrick's first boat ride. He and I went swimming in the lake too, with our dads. It was really fun, even though the water was a bit cold, it didn't bother us one bit. I'm sure you'd probably like to see some pictures of that adventure, but Mom's battery in the camera died right after taking the shots of me by the stove. Notice? Don't worry, it wasn't on, but I'm itchin' to start cookin'.

Pack it in,
HAJ

PS - I missed a shout to my uncle Larry C. on Friday, Happy Birthday and can't wait to meet up in August. And then yesterday was sweet Frannie B's big day! Wow, 7, I don't even know how many that is!

Walleye Chop

As I had mentioned, Saturday was the walleye fishing opener in Minnesota. So, after Mom finally got her book case delivered, we headed out to the lake. Things were much better this time around. I was fully napped and eaten and Mom loosened the straps on the life jacket for me, so I wasn't quite so smooshed. I would still rather not have to deal with it, and I have my people checking on alternatives.

As I'm sure most of you know, I will eat about anything you put in front of me. So Dad thinks he's all funny and tries to get me to eat a fish. He said he needs to start me early so I will enjoy sushi! Don't worry I came to my senses.

On top of the world,

A Tale of Heart Break On the High Seas

Yesterday was the day I broke my father's heart. I didn't mean to, and I hope to repair it in the near future. But I have to say honestly, I didn't enjoy boating. I wanted to. I wanted to more than I can say, but I hated it.

In my defense, we started out late. Mom had to get her nails done and Dad was trying to get the garage organized. Then we had to stop for bait, and then grab some lunch. When we got to the dock, the gates were still chained shut so we had to wait for Joe (the captain of our Red Neck Yacht Club) to come unlock the doors, and he was watching the NFL draft and didn't want to leave until the Vikings made their pick. Honestly people, I am on a schedule. We didn't end up on the water until about 12:45. I nap at 1:00.

There were some good times. Driving the boat is fun. I liked going fast too. I didn't like the waves, I didn't like my life jacket, and I didn't like being left to sit alone. I'm just not used to this space, and I wanted to sit on Mom's lap the entire time. But, the after boating snack was probably the highlight.

We're going shopping today for a new, larger life jacket. We all made a pact to start out earlier next time, be more organized. I'm willing to give it another shot, if Daddy is ready to give me another shot.

Mama said there would be days like this,
