Like an Old Pair Of Socks

I went to Mom's old office with her for lunch today.  We got to see old friends, who I didn't totally remember, and to meet a new one.  The cute baby up there is Neve, she's mom's friend's new baby.  She's very sweet and very cute!  She didn't even cry once!  It was great to see all of the people that Mom used to work with, and I loved playing office with all of their equipment.  Especially using the copy machine, and sitting in the big chairs behind the big desks.

I know I haven't updated in awhile, but as you can tell from the photo above, some things still haven't changed.  I still don't like having my picture taken, and I still have a touch of the shys.  Mr. Gunkelman wanted a picture with Neve and me, and this was the best I could do.  I hope to grow out of this, once I hit my fives.

I love being free, it's the best way to be,

Here's the Skinny

Here's the skinny - for whatever reason Mama decided to quit a perfectly good job, to try to make it on her own. The name of her new company is Paperwork Design. Kinda sounds like she's going to make greeting cards or something doesn't it? Well, she's not. She is going to put herself out there for hire to designers who need help doing their paperwork. You may not know this, but designer are all a titch on the flighty side, and very arty, and they hate to do paperwork. But Mama on the otherhand, is a freak of nature and loves it. Remember how she likes to fill out forms, and to practice her own handwriting? She works on different ways to write an E, or maybe an L. For hours. This is what I'm talking about. She's also going to take the autoCAD skills she's learned, and offer that as one of her services. After that meltdown she had on her first day of class, everyone is in shock about this decision, but now she actually enjoys it, and believe it or not, prefers it to hand drafting.

So there ya go. She officially starts on 2/18, in the mean time she'll be laying around the house in her comfiest robe, drinking Pabst Blue Ribbons.

It's my way or the highway,
HAJ

PS - Daddy wants me to mention that we are taking donations since we're down to one income. He even just turned in my application to start work at McDonalds. Help!

A New Direction

So, remember just over six years ago when my mom got her "dream job" at a place called Gunkelman Flesher Interior Design? Remember how she had visions of driving that new Jetta with her new paychecks? Remember how this was the job that she was going to have the rest of her life, and she was sure to retire with that company? Well, thing change. People change. They have babies. They need excitement in their life. They need to move on sometimes, as much as it hurts. As much as it hurts to leave that job, today is Mom's last day at GFID.

It is hard for her to leave a job where the people she worked with have treated her like family. Even like more than family, but I don't know a word for that. They have given her every opportunity in this world, have taken her to far away cities she may not have gone, and have taught her the ways of the big city. They have been there through the good and the bad, and have gone out of their way to give her more time with me. She appreciates everything so much that these people have done, and it hurts her so bad to leave them.

Its not a good-bye, and they've agreed to keep doing some work together in the future. They've also requested that she brings me by the office often for lunches. Of course, we could never turn that down. So if anyone knows words that mean more than thank you, or words that mean more than heart felt, or love, or can explain how much she'll miss everyone at that office, please let her know, because those words just seem to be cuttin' the mustard around here.

HAJ - Tune in tomorrow to hear about what comes next for Mama.

Koozie Time

Most of you who know my parents, know that they can't drink any beverage without one of these can koozies! I finally got my own this weekend, and what a difference it makes on my juice. Heck, when its 100 degrees outside you need all the help you can get.

Today we're busy! There's grocery shopping, cleaning, shopping for lights for the outside of the house. By the way, the house is really coming along, but not finished yet. Don't worry there's photos coming. Our neighbors are even saying how nice it looks. It seems maybe we aren't the hillbillies of the neighborhood anymore, and maybe they'll all just over look the dead grass.

Later today we're off to my Mom's office for happy hour! I know, I hope they spike my sippy cup. NOT! (I'm bring it back.) It's Mr. Gunkelman's birthday tomorrow, and he invited ME to come to his party! Can you believe it? The only reason Mom gets to go is because she has to bring me. Now we know how she rates.

It takes two to tango,

I'm Very Busy Office-ing

Today we went to Mom's office for lunch! Here's me with my main man, TG. He's so much fun! Today he shared his chocolate chip cookie with me! I know. He definitely knows the way to my heart is through my tummy. He's a smart man! We ordered in lunch from Chipotle, and we all had a yummy lunch. I got to sit at the table with my own chair, and my own NEW (for ages 1 and up!) sippy cup.

Guess what else? While I was there, Mom finally made it official that I know how to wave hello and goodbye. I've been doing it for a day or two, but there was no more denying or thinking it was a coincidence today. I've been trying to tell her I know what I'm doing, but she never listens.

Mad House

This is a shot of me hangin' at Mom's office. After we all got our work done, we had a little wine time. Working at gunkelmanFlesher is awesome. That's my new secret crush, Karen, in the background. She's Mom's office mate, and sooooo pretty. Don't tell her boyfriend I said that. He's WAY bigger than me.

Its a mad house at my house today. We have painters here painting the basement, the cable guy is here putting cable in the porch, Mom's room, and the guest room. Then, the dryer clunked out, so Mom is ecstatic that she gets to pick out new tomorrow! And then, G&G E are on their way to town for the long Easter weekend! There's just so much going on - I'm off to take a nap.

Don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon,

Busy, Busy, Busy

I only have a moment to make this post, I'm very busy today as you can see. I have to cover for the receptionist at my mom's office since she decided to take a day off. The phones are ringing off the hook, and I need to make coffee for the rep's that just came in, and then someone dumped a load of papers on my desk that need to be copied, collated, and filed. There seems to be no end.

As if that isn't bad enough, I had my 9 month check up this morning! I know, I forgot about it too. Doctor said I'm perfectly healthy and she has no concerns. Whew. So, here's the stats - 24lbs 5oz. Yes. TWENTY-FOUR POUND, FIVE OUNCES. That throws me into the 91%. I think I weigh more than my 2 year old cousin Annie. But I'm OK with it. Although Doc did make one snide comment - she told Mom that sometimes babies don't crawl because of their size. Their size. I'm like - "I can hear you. I'm right here." And Mom said, "well, I don't blame him. I couldn't haul all that around either." And they laughed. This is what I did.

The rest of the numbers look like this - I am 28.25" long, in the 42%. And my head is 47cm, in the 88%. So basically I look exactly like my parents: heavy, short, with big heads. God bless genetics.

Gone with the wind, (Although according to my Dr. it'll take one hell of a gust!)

While the Cat's Away.....

My mom's bosses are out of the country for a couple weeks, so I dropped by her office to make a few copies!

The other day my dad was talking about how he hasn't changed a poopy diaper in weeks, because I always poop at daycare or when I'm with Mom during the day. So, my new favorite trick is that I poop in the middle of the night so that when Dad comes to get me up in the mornings, he's sure to have a little treat from me! I've done it about 5 times so far, and they're really stinky ones too! Dad's a good sport about it.

My cold is still hanging on, but my cough seems to be getting a little better. Not quite so "juicy". Ick, I know. Daycare was good yesterday. I pee'd out of my outfit though, but who cares? Mom is the only who cares because she hates to see me in my "out of style" back up clothes she leaves for me to wear in just such an occasion. Then Mom, Dad, and I went out to dinner at Champps. Kids eat free on Tuesdays! Gotta save every buck! Its supposed to get up to 70 degrees here today, so we're planning on hanging out in the porch tonight! Can't wait!

Keep on Truckin'
